Week 5

This week we wen to various web sites and tried to decifer whether or not they are valid places to reference. This was a good example of ways that children could easily get misinformation when they are trying to get good information for research. We also finished up our video project and worked on our Google earth project. Our video was really funny, and some of the other videos were funny too.

Week 4

Most of this week was used to finish our video project which was introduced last week. We also did a short Ivideo trailer which was a lot of fun. Our next project was introduced to us and it is a little less fun. we have to create a virtual tour using google earth. I cant wait to find out what our project after that is. This class has been so much fun so far and I have learned quite a bit.

Week 3

Today, class started with a test. I was given a piece of paper that said sound out the words and rate them for how easily you can say them. The professor then began to say ridiculously crazy words paired together. After that he tested us on our memory of the words. We didnt know that half of the class got a paper that said to picture what he said. The ones that had to picture the words were able to remember better. This was a good exersize for us to realize how people think and remember things.

Week 2

I guess i was supposed to blog for week 2 but i was a little late. this week we were introduced to photoshop. This is the first time i have used photoshop. It was very interesting, and I think it would be useful in my career. We did a lot of brainstorming about how it could help in the classroom and there were a lot of good ideas. i cant wait to finish this project.

Day one

Today we ran around on the internet, exploring the different aspect of web 2.0. Beside learning the what web 2.0 really is, we found a lot of good resources that can be applied to our professional career. My favorite part of the exploration exersize was creating a deck of trading cards. I started making a deck of cards for the elements of the periodic table. I feel like this could be really useful for teaching the properties of the elements to my high school/middle school science students. I tried to create a video game, but i failed. i lke the idea of creating different ways of learning things for my students. It gives the opportunity for students who learn different ways to get the information needed. The best sites that i found for these teaching resources were go2web20.net and bighugelabs.com. Both of these i found to be quite useful. We also went to Flickr, but i dont really see how that site is useful. It seems like a roundabout way to get pictures that i could easily get elsewhere.
